    Gambling Flashback in Springfield

Published by on October 6, 2011

I love gambling and I love The Simpsons. So there can never be anything better than a combination where these two favourites of mine come together. Since Simpsons have a taste for all the political issues of the USA and the world there is no way they would leave the casino scene untouched.

Yes, they did it in 1993 when Springfield got its very own casino, with Homer as a blackjack dealer. Even Bart who was chucked out due to being underage starts up a casino of his own and the location, you guessed it, his tree house. It is the Mayor Mr. Quimby who proposes the idea and Mr. Burns turns it into a reality with his never ending bankroll.

Well, the Simpsons always comes with a message that will leave you thinking and the message in this episode is problem gambling. It is Marge who discovers that she has an uncontrollable desire for gambling and this even leads this otherwise devoted mother to miss out on her children’s activities. Homer finally understands what his wife is going through but leaves it with a funny quip to Lisa that says “Your mom still loves you. It’s just that she has a career now. She’s a slot-jockey.”
